The Idaho Freedom Foundation today announced the launch of its free, non-partisan legislative tracking website that will provide a quick reference on all introduced legislation this legislative session.

IdahoVotes.org gives users instant access to concise, plain language and objective descriptions of every single bill, amendment, and vote that takes place in the Idaho legislature. The Idaho Freedom Foundation today launched OurIdaho.com, a website for Idahoans interested in government transparency. The website contains billions of dollars in state government spending data and the names, titles and pay rates for around 40,000 government employees statewide.
 

City refuses to disclose the names of its workers

Idaho Freedom Foundation Executive Director Wayne Hoffman today criticized Coeur d’Alene city officials for refusing to disclose the full identities of its employees. IFF is a non-profit, non-partisan group which is in the process of developing a government transparency website. On Monday, IFF requested the city provide the names, titles, departments and rates of pay for each city employee. City Human Resources Director Pam MacDonald responded on Tuesday with a list of employees, but the first names of the employees were withheld.

Meridian leaders to begin posting spending data

Meridian officials have notified the Idaho Freedom Foundation that the city will soon begin posting line-item expenditure data on the municipality’s website. That makes Meridian the fourth Idaho community to agree to a new level of transparency, allowing citizens to see how every dollar is being spent. Eagle is already posting its transactions online. Nampa and Canyon County are preparing to post line-item reports online.

IFF suggests alternative to beer and wine tax increase

BOISE – Idaho could allocate around $27 million for substance abuse treatment without needing to raise taxes under a proposal from the Idaho Freedom Foundation. 

The non-profit, non-partisan think tank encouraged lawmakers on Tuesday to consider its alternatives to the tax increases now pending before the Legislature.

Eagle, Idaho – Idaho Freedom Foundation Executive Director Wayne Hoffman today encouraged Idaho government leaders to follow Eagle City Council’s example and approve transparency measures that allow taxpayers to review expenses, revenues and contracts online.

Eagle City Council passed its transparency resolution last week. The resolution requires the city to post expenses, revenues and contracts on the city’ website.
